Cultural Day














The team was up and ready to start a new day! Our Ysleta Host gave us the grand tour of where we are staying and the history of not only the land but about the building and how the ministry here came into action. It’s a very eye opening experience

You can see the love pouring out here and the Passion our hosts feel. Their number one mission is to share the gospel and spread the love of Christ to anyone they have the opportunity to help. You heard the emotion in his voice and saw the tears come to his eyes. It was obvious they love what they do but it was more obvious how much they love Jesus. It’s inspiring the dedication they have. 


Ysleta ministry involves, a prison ministry on Saturdays, a food drive on Saturday morning, they offer free medical help on Saturday’s as well. Which is great for college students going into the medical field because it offers them great hand on experience. Ysleta missions also includes a podcast that is recorded on Fridays that aligns with what they will hear at church that Sunday morning. They also provide music classes and a thrift store for anyone to shop at.  The list of their ministry continues and will continue on for their love of helping people. 


After the tour, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and more great conversation. We continued onto Bible study where we had deep insights on the study of Jesus healing the Centurion’s Servant. (Matthew 8:5-13) After Bible study we walked over for church. Church was a fascinating experience because it was a bilingual worship service. They were very welcoming and enjoyed that we attended church with them. In the service they even had a special prayer for our missions trip. My favorite part of the worship service was at the end where you greet everyone with the words “peace be with you”. It was a great way to meet the members. 


After church, the team headed out for our cultural day. We got the cultural experience in Mesilla, New Mexico. We checked out their little shops and listened to the live music that was being played in the park. It was cool to see the buildings and the beautiful landscape of the mountains that were made from the hands of God. It was fun a fun experience and our luggage might be a little heavier on the trip home! 


This evening we returned home and ate a mouth watering meal that was authentic enchiladas & Mexican rice. After dinner we had our evening devotion and prayer. The team then got into work mode! We begin going through our lessons and made preparations to get us ready. We ended our second night with a little ice cream break and made final preparations for our first day on the field tomorrow! We are so excited to help these families and spread the love of Jesus to them!

Have you ever been somewhere where it immediately felt like home? From the moment we arrived our Hosts greeted us with warm and loving hugs and beautiful smiles. Our hosts have made the housing so cozy you feel right at home.  It’s been a delight getting to know them and look forward to growing a stronger connection as the trip goes on.  The day has been filled with great conversations with plenty of laughs during our Travel.    It almost feels like this group has known each other for ages. We thank you Jesus for getting us to our destination safely.  This evening we begin our work on the water filters . We have team members drilling holes, filing the holes, cutting chains and chaining the syringes on the buckets. Our goal is to get 50 buckets done today, but this group works hard so I wouldn’t be surprised if we exceed that amount. It’s been a lot of fun working with the team and it’s inspiring to see their love for Jesus shine through today!

In the Field - Day 2

The team woke up to another beautiful morning! We enjoyed a great breakfast with a prayer and a devotion.   We headed back out on the field to help more families with water filters! The kids team had a fantastic day with the Bible story, hygiene lessons and playing lots of games! The kids were adorable and full of hugs and love. A special moment was when a little girl came running to join the group and instantly gave out a hug to a team member. Another special moment was when the teens showed us a game they play called “Hot Potato” but not how we play in America. It was awesome to experience a game of theirs. The adults had another great engaging crowd with lots of applauses and grateful hearts. It’s heartwarming to see their appreciation for the gospel and the water filters. We distributed another 50 water filters to the families.  Afterwards the woman who owns the community center made the team tacos for lunch. In the Field! - Day 1

Today is exciting! We begin distributing our water filters and teaching hygiene lessons while sharing the gospel with the families.  We arrived at our destination and got to work quickly. We started to assemble the filters and prepped for our lessons.  Those working with the kids got to hang out outside and teach them lessons and do a Bible study and then played a couple of games.  The team members working with the adults had similar lessons and a Bible study. They had an engaging group who were asking a lot of questions and applauded the team members after each lesson! You could hear their gratitude from outside! We then distributed 50 water buckets to the families. It was heart warming to see how thankful they were to receive their new water filters. A moment that I found special was an older man who was so proud of himself that he was able to demonstrate how the filter worked and with the back washing that he clapped and said “I did it!” with a huge smile!
